First Annual Women’s Law Update: 2015 Notable Legislative and Legal Issues Affecting Women

 

WWL will present a CLE on recent court decisions and legislation affecting women in conjunction with the annual event.  The CLE will take place on the afternoon of October 9, 2015, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the offices of Gordon Thomas Honeywell in downtown Tacoma, concluding immediately before the annual event.  Topics will include Washington State recent legislation, including Non-consensual pornography – aka “revenge porn” (HB 1272 and HB 2140), sexual assault kit testing (HB 1068), and campus sexual assault (SB 5518 and SB 5719), Federal recent legislation, including the Affordable Care Act, marijuana use, marriage and domestic partnership laws, education, and tribal laws, and recent case law.

FACULTY BIOS

 

 


    PAMELA CRONE is a lawyer and lobbyist and has represented clients in Olympia since 2000.  Her lobbying portfolio includes women’s legal rights, health care, domestic violence, and economic and social justice issues.  Pamela is an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law.  She graduated from Ohio State and the University of Florida Law School.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


NANCY SAPIRO, an attorney since 1987, works as a lobbyist/governmental relations consultant in Washington State where she focuses on issues of advocacy, social and economic justice, women’s health, domestic violence, and education.  Prior to this, she worked for approximately 10 years for Legal Voice, a women’s legal rights organization that works to advance the law through litigation, legislative advocacy and legal rights education strategies.  She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.

 

 

 

 

 

 


DAVID WARD is Legal and Legislative Counsel at Legal Voice, where his areas of responsibility include LGBT, family law, and gender violence issues.  Before joining Legal Voice, he served as the legislative liaison for the Washington State Bar Association.  He is the past-president of the QLaw Foundation and a member of the Washington Supreme Court’s Gender and Justice Commission.  He is a graduate of Yale Law School and Trinity University.
