    The In-House Counsel, Regulatory Compliance, will provide day-to-day legal guidance on network operations, and work closely with our Government Affairs team, Operations and Engineering.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Deliver actionable, practical legal advice to business clients and assist them in complying with internal policies, and federal and state regulations, while meeting business objectives;

    Implement compliance programs through partnership and collaboration with the business and other legal experts;

    Help drive the automation of operations consistent with the applicable rules and regulations;

    Prepare letters and/or talking points for communications to federal and state regulatory agencies, including the FCC;

    Demonstrate creativity in partnering with engineering and product teams to address regulatory compliance challenges;

    Collaborate on complex, fast-moving projects and proactively deliver actionable guidance and solutions;

    Advise on legal requirements for 911 service and outage reporting, for existing and new products and services;

    Monitor changes in 911 law and regulation, recommend new policy and procedures as necessary to meet new compliance obligations;

    Coordinate with Government Affairs and Engineering on proposed changes or modifications of law and regulation; and

    Communicate legal advice to Engineering and Operations clients in a simple, informal, practical and un-legalistic way.

    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum 4+ years of experience at a law firm, regulatory agency, and/or in-house;

    Ability to lead and advise on complex and fast-moving projects;

    Prior telecom or technology experience a plus;

    Experience in litigation, investigations, regulatory, or adversarial situations preferred;

    Effective communicator;

    J.D. from an accredited university with strong academic credentials; and

    Member in good standing of at least one state bar association (willingness to become a member of the Washington State Bar (if needed)).

    TeamChild is seeking a full-time Summer Fellow for our Tacoma, WA office, located at 715 Tacoma Ave. South. The fellow will work in partnership with Oasis Youth Center and be co-located at Oasis and TeamChild. Under the guidance of TeamChild attorneys and in consultation with Oasis Youth Center the fellow will advise LGBTQ youth about their legal rights. The fellow will be asked to research various legal issues frequently affecting LGBTQ youth in the community and develop policy responses to those issues. The fellow will also be asked to develop sustainable policy options to create an ongoing TeamChild/Oasis legal clinic partnership. Duties also include community education, outreach to clients and potential referral sources and collaboration on community based projects that serve TeamChild’s and Oasis Youth Center’s client base. 

    QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking candidates who are respectful and open to working with people from diverse backgrounds, enjoy creative problem solving, value the creation of relationships across disciplines, have strong organizational and administrative skills, work well both independently and as a team member, and are enthusiastic about being a part of an innovative method of advocacy. 

    Additional qualifications include: • Rule 9 eligible law student or recent graduate. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Strong legal skills, preferably in the relevant areas of law. • Demonstrated interest in working with LGBTQ youth or young adults. • Demonstrated competence in working with diverse clients and client communities. • Connections to Pierce County a plus. • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with other advocates and client groups. • Sense of humor. • Willingness to work nights and weekend hours when Oasis Youth Center is open for programming.
