ERWIN CHEMERINSKY PRESENTS QUACKENBUSH LECTURE
ON ‘PRIVACY AND THE COURT’ MARCH 20 AT GONZAGA

SPOKANE, Wash. – Erwin Chemerinsky, founding dean and distinguished professor of law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, will present the Gonzaga University School of Law Quackenbush Lecture at noon Tuesday, March 20 in the Barbieri Courtroom at the Gonzaga Law School (721 N. Cincinnati St.).

The lecture titled, “Can the Supreme Court Deal with the 21st Century? Privacy and the Court,” is free and open to the public.

More than 200 attorneys from across the state of Washington have registered to hear Chemerinsky, one of the nation’s leading authorities on privacy in the judicial system.  His most recent publication, “The Conservative Assault on the Constitution” was published in October 2010.

A graduate of Harvard Law School, and Northwestern University, Chemerinsky held prior faculty appointments at Duke Law School, Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California, and DePaul College of Law. Previously, he served as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice and with the Washington, D.C.-firm Dobrovir, Iakes and Gebhardt.

The Judge Justin L. Quackenbush Lecture Series honors Judge Quackenbush for his many outstanding contributions as a U.S. District Court judge. Nominated to the bench by President Jimmy Carter, and confirmed by the Senate in 1980, Judge Quackenbush served as chief judge in Spokane from 1989-95, and assumed senior status in June 1995.  A graduate of the University of Idaho and Gonzaga University School of Law (1957), Judge Quackenbush served in the U.S. Navy, as deputy prosecuting attorney in Spokane County, in private practice, and as an instructor at Gonzaga’s School of Law before his appointment to the bench.
