The nomination of Justice González and Professor Chang for their leadership roles on the Race & the Criminal Justice System Task Force emphasized the effort to mobilize the community to initiate change concerning racial disparity in the justice system.  The Legal Foundation of Washington Board also acknowledges the shared vision of the Task Force members who helped bring this issue to light. We invite you to learn more about the process and recommendations brought about by the Task Force by visiting the Korematsu Center for Law & Equality page on the Seattle University School of Law website. http://tinyurl.com/mr3959d.

We are also very pleased to announce that the 2014 President’s Award will be presented to Legal Voice.  For 35 years, Legal Voice has been committed to advancing legal rights and justice through the law.  Legal Voice provides consistently high quality representation to a broad range of individuals and groups on such important topics as sexual and domestic violence, marriage equality, reproductive rights, and equal pay.

The Goldmark Award Luncheon is the only statewide opportunity for the Legal Foundation of Washington and LAW Fund to celebrate and honor those whose outstanding accomplishments have had a positive impact on the low-income people of our state.

The Legal Foundation of Washington created the Charles A. Goldmark Distinguished Service Award in 1987 to honor the prominent Seattle attorney and the Foundation's second President at the time of his death in January 1986.   Chuck Goldmark was keenly interested in access to justice. By presenting this award annually at the Goldmark Luncheon to an individual or organization that has assisted in providing meaningful access to the justice system, we also honor Chuck’s memory.
