The Washington Leadership Institute (WLI) is now accepting applications until 9/20

The Washington Leadership Institute (WLI) is now accepting applications for an exciting leadership training program for lawyers between their third and 10th year of practice. If eligible, we invite you to submit your application. And if there is someone you think should apply, please offer your encouragement.

The WLI is a proud partnership between the WSBA and the University of Washington School of Law. Its purpose is to prepare new leaders for WSBA and the legal community, with an emphasis on attorneys from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the bar.

WLI graduates are accomplishing great things. As just one of many examples, recent WLI alum Karen Denise Wilson will be sworn in next month as WSBA’s next at-large member of the Board of Governors.

Applications for the WLI Class of 2014 are being accepted through Sept. 20 at 5 p.m.

What criteria must be met to apply?

• You are an active WSBA member.
• You have been admitted to practice for at least three years and not more than 10 years.
• You are nominated by your employer, or if self-employed, by a lawyer with at least 10 years of practice or a judge.

How many attorneys are chosen to participate?

• Twelve attorneys will be carefully selected for the ninth year of the program.

The application and information packet can be found here. For more information about the program or the application process, visit the WLI website.

If you have questions, you are welcome to contact Co-chairs Judge Mary Yu at mary.yu@kingcounty.gov and James Williams at JWilliams@perkinscoie.com, or WLI Coordinator Dawn Bell at belld@uw.edu.
