Judge Beth M. Andrus, Judge John H. Chun, and Judge Lori Kay Smith, of the Washington Court of Appeals, Division One, will have openings for law clerks for the 2020-2022 court term, which begins in August 2020.  The Court of Appeals handles appeals from Washington courts of general jurisdiction in all areas of law, including criminal, civil, family, and child dependency matters.  These judges seek applicants—lawyers or graduating law students—with diverse personal and professional backgrounds who are interested in legal research, writing and appellate law.  If interested in submitting an application, please submit a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, a short writing sample, and three letters of recommendation to the individual judges at Washington Court of Appeals, Division One, 600 University Street, Seattle, Washington, 98101, by September 30, 2019.  If you prefer to submit materials electronically, please email the materials to the judges’ judicial assistants: Judge Andrus’s judicial assistant, Liz Jackson, at liz.jackson@courts.wa.gov; Judge Chun’s judicial assistant, Kristina Wescott, at Kristina.wescott@courts.wa.gov; and Judge Smith’s judicial assistant, Elaine Asaidali, at elaine.asaidali@courts.wa.gov.  The law clerk salary in 2020 will be $67,898, with an additional five percent premium pay through June 2021 for state employees working in the greater Seattle area.
