July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Washington Lawyers Assisting Lawyers (WaLAL) is honored to partner with the Federal Bar Association for the Western District of Washington and the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington, to co-host a Minority Lawyer Mental Health Awareness discussion and reception July 29 from 4-5:30 pm at the Seattle office of Schroeter Goldmark & Bender. 401 Union St., #3400. The event is free and a safe space. 1 hour CLE credit pending. Other Minority and Affinity Bar Associations are invited to participate. Again, the forum is on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Kent Commons Community Center, located at 525 4Th Avenue North, in Kent, Washington 98030. It is on the same side as the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center, and across from the Kent Station. It is at the cross streets of W. James Street and 4Th Avenue North.

There is free parking at the Community Center, as well as free parking at the courthouse next to the Commons Community Center, as well as at the ShoWare.
You are invited to attend WWL Spokane monthly meetings which normally occur on the first Wednesday of the month. Due to some conflicts, the next two meetings will be held:

KING COUNTY DISTRICT COURT PRO TEM JUDGE TRAINING TO BE HELD OCTOBER 19 – 23, 2026

King County District Court (KCDC) invites applications from attorneys who would like to be considered for service as a judge pro tempore and to attend the Court’s pro tem training class series this autumn.
Class dates
Case type focus
The October 2026 pro tem training class will focus on criminal, infraction and protection order cases. The Court will not be conducting civil pro tem training in October.
Online open Houses
Two online open houses will be held during the application period to answer any questions about the pro tem process. It is strongly recommended that you attend one of these sessions, if you are interested in becoming a pro tem, as the District Court judges will be going over important information for the class. Pro tem requirements
To be considered for the pro tem class, you must be an active member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association and have a minimum of five years of civil or criminal experience as a practicing attorney. King County District Court encourages applicants of diverse backgrounds. For additional details, refer to the Court’s Pro Tem Policy.
CLE Credits
The Court will be applying for 24.75 (2 ethics) hours of WSBA CLE credit for this training. The cost of this training is $750. This amount will be due before the first day of training. Participants will also be compensated for the time spent on KCDC specific work. This compensation generally offsets most of the cost of the training.
