Find work-life balance, advance your career as an attorney, and sharpen your litigation skills under the mentorship of our founding attorney, who has over a decade of experience and employs a limited licensed legal technician, associate attorney, paralegals, and additional administrative staff.
Responsibilities include (and are not limited to):
Requirements We are looking for an attorney with a minimum of three years of practice. We will consider a recent law school graduate with a bar license, practical clinical or law office experience, and a demonstrated strong work ethic. (However, recent grads will not be able to work fully remotely until after a successful probation period of three months.) The successful candidate will be a self-starter and problem solver capable of producing high quality document drafts with limited supervision, proactively checking in with our founding attorney, and delivering an outstanding client experience to include prompt follow up regarding client concerns, timely court filings and proactive case management, and thorough and careful legal counsel. Our successful candidate will also have solid references and work history and will be prepared to promptly acknowledge tasks and assignments, provide regular feedback to our firm founder, and keep her updated regarding developments on cases until they have demonstrated the ability to independently manage their case load. Our firm founder warmly welcomes informal short case meetings throughout the day, and loves teaching and mentoring attorneys. You do not need to be an expert in family law, just prepared to work hard and deliver high quality legal services on time with excellent communication within our office and with clients. Your first 90 days of employment consist of a probationary period, with hourly requirements evaluated weekly, and immediate dismissal if hourly requirements and performance standards are not met each week. Although we have high performance standards, our monthly billable hours requirements are among the lowest you will find at a family law firm, and after your probationary period ends we offer you a 100 percent work-from-home policy (you will still have a dedicated office in our firm), health insurance (we pay half your premium), and all court holidays off, in addition to paid vacation time and sick leave as required by law. We also offer a generous bonus structure and additional opportunities for compensation in addition to your salary. Why should you work for our firm? In addition to competitive salary and benefits, we offer an amazing small firm culture. Our staff are diverse, respectful, warm and friendly, and we honor and prioritize work-life balance, which you see reflected in our lower monthly hours requirements, as well as our policy that no staff member needs to use PTO if they are out of the office or home office for four hours or less (just let us know you’ll be stepping out for a bit). Even though we are a small firm, the quality of our technology and our tech support is second to none. You can expect rapid assistance and resolution to any and all tech challenges, and simple and easy-to-use software and platforms that keep our team on the same page in real time. We have a full-time client support specialist who ensures our client’s trust accounts are funded, so you’ll never be involved in asking for replenishments. Our firm manager will work with you to supervise your paralegal and make sure you are fully supported in your legal work, and our talented paralegals and front desk team will keep your calendar and deadlines well managed. All court hearings before commissioners in Pierce County (where 90 percent of our cases take place) are being held by Zoom, and we expect this to continue for the foreseeable future. On the rare occasion that you are required to personally appear, such as for a trial, you will obviously need to travel to Pierce or other nearby counties. Although your time for traveling is not billable to the client per our remote work policy, we do offer a lodging stipend of $150 nightly for employees who must travel more than 100 miles to appear in court, and mileage reimbursement. Salary range: $90-110k.
