Law Clerk Opportunity
2022 Fall Law Clerk Recruitment Program (DL: 9/6/22)
Judge J. Michael (“Mike”) Diaz of the Washington Court of Appeals, Division One, is seeking to hire immediately two term law clerks, both of whom would be asked to start on September 19, 2022. The term of one clerk will end on or about August 15, 2023, and the other on or about August 15, 2024. This announcement will remain open until filled, with priority given to applications received by August 8, 2022. Interviews will be conducted, if possible, the weeks of August 15 and 22, 2022, with hiring offers to be made by August 29, 2022.
Judge Diaz is also seeking to hire a law clerk who would be asked to start on August 16, 2023 and whose term would end on or about August 15, 2025. Judge Diaz is now accepting applications for this position and applications must be received by September 30, 2022.
The Court of Appeals handles appeals from Washington courts of general jurisdiction in all areas of law, including criminal, civil, and domestic matters. Judge Diaz seeks applicants with varied personal and professional backgrounds, who are interested in rigorous legal research and precise legal writing, in a collaborative and collegial environment. Candidates must be law school graduates or have completed the APR 6 law clerk program (or equivalent). Practicing attorneys are encouraged to apply. The current salary for law clerks working in King County is $75,448. Law clerks also receive state employee benefits.

LAW Advocates, a Bellingham, Washington-based legal-aid non-profit, seeks a full-time Programs Manager to lead its client-service work. Since 1987, LAW Advocates has provided free civil legal assistance to low-income Whatcom County residents by connecting them with attorney and community volunteers and LAW Advocates staff.
Hours: 40 hours per week, 9-5 M-F with occasional evening or weekend events. Wage: $28.85 per hour (approx. $60,000 annually)
